Hortin Family Dinner is a monthly third Sunday tradition. We get together, have food, and pay attention to the nieces and nephew for awhile. We generally try to catch up with each other and find out what's new. Rob of course loves these dinners because he can bribe our nephew, Will into finishing his food and then playing with Uncle Rob. Will's parents don't mind, their child eats and then gets tuckered out before bedtime. I don't mind because my husband eats and then he also gets tuckered out before bedtime.
Memorial Day is also a bigger holiday for the Hortin Clan. They used to get together and have breakfast at Grandma and Grandpa Hortin's house. Now they meet in Provo at Rob's uncle's house instead. We get to chat with the cousins and play with the others cousins and generally just have a good time. I missed out on the breakfest this year due to an evil migraine, but Rob was able to go down and had a great time.
This year my family also decided to hang out together and eat food. Rob opens pools the week of memorial day and usually has to be at our property all day, so we had the bar-b-que at the gazeboo in the back of our condo complex. We had hamburgers, hotdogs, soyburgers, potato salad, soda and all sorts of fun!! Emily and Andrew showed everyone how to slackline-which is pretty much walk on a ribbon and don't fall off. Chris showed off his frisbee skills, and the rest of us chatted. Some left early, but they just missed out on board games and more chatting.
These family outings are something I am so grateful for. Without the love and support of our families, who knows what we would be doing!! So thanks all, and see you on third sunday!!
