Our nephew Will turned 4 last monday. He is the first grandchild on the Hortin side, and one of Rob's favorite people. We had decided that for this birthday we would take him on an adventure. The original adventure we had in mind was Toy Story 3, but after his mom took him to see it first and it scared the pants off of him, it was decided that dinner and ice cream would be more appropriate.
We showed up at his house and Will, his mom (Tess) and our niece (Emmy, who is 2) were all outside, and Will was definitely excited!
We got him strapped in, and after having an extraction of Emmy from the car, we were off to In and Out Burger. As a side note here, one of the reasons's that will likes us so much is we have a big truck. This is Rob's in at family dinner. He tells Will to eat dinner and they will go for rides in the truck. Needless to say, will is a big truck fan, and pretty much any other sort of truck fan.
We walked into In and Out and they were so kind as to hand Will, two sheets of truck and car stickers! This was pretty awesome. After ordering his hamburger and fries we got situated by the window and were able to watch for all of the cars and trucks going by. We had our dinner, watched some very silly children try to climb the building and talked about the trucks that went by. (Rob was in uncle heaven!)
After dinner we went for frozen yogurt. At a local frozen yogurt joint you are able to pick your own toppings, which Will really loves!
We sat and ate our yogurt and Will told Rob all sorts of stories.
After our adventorous evening we got him back to his house and we stopped to tell his mom about the evening as he scampered off. We were standing there for awhile and he came back in the room with no shirt on (getting ready for his bath) and runs over to Rob and I and gives us the biggest hugs and says, "I Love You".
He then proceeded to scamper up to take a bath. I had been excited about this evening, but after having my heart completely melted by my young nephew, the memories will live on forever.
